How this woman continuously reinvents her artistry while simultaneously remaining true to her sound is beyond me. Lana defies genres and 15th year into her music career, is literally her own genre. She might not be the biggest selling artist of her generation (despite being a massively famous one) but she is the most important & searing musician of our times, whose artistry transcends age, race, creed, gender etc. Lana has definitely reached the echelons of Joni Mitchell, Kurt Cobian, The Beatles with her once-in-a-generation artistry.

I watched soooo many reaction videos of this song and in EACH one by a young man they missed the reason she hasn't done a cartwheel since she was 9. I talked to my (child free) boyfriend about this and he didn't get it either. I had to explain to him that little girls are told at a certain age that they can't do activities in public any longer if they are wearing a dress or skirt because the activity will make the skirt move in such a way that their panties show. [As an aside, this is a GREAT reason to bring back bloomers which fit OVER panties. Bloomers used to be common. Now they are only common as a piece of clothing on a cheer squad uniform]. People who spent their childhood as boys and who are not fathers of little girls REALLY don't automatically get this opening lyric. To me, this opening lyric set the stage for the entire song.
