The Day Before was first revealed in 2021 with a "gameplay" trailer that showed the basic mechanics of the game. The game was originally supposed to be released in June 2022, but was delayed to March 1, 2023 due to a planned switch from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5.

In January 2023, the page for The Day Before was pulled from Steam, with Fntastic stating on January 25 that there had been trademark issues surrounding the title of the game, and announcing that the release had been further delayed to November 10, 2023 for this reason. However, the studio's founders later told IGN that the delay had already been planned prior to them learning of the trademark disputes, and was to be announced via a new ten-minute gameplay trailer. They also defended claims that the game was a "scam", stating that they were being backed by Mytona and being evaluated on their progress regularly, and that "we didn't take a penny from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations". On February 2, 2023, amid speculation over the status of the game, Fntastic released the new raw gameplay footage. However, shortly afterward, videos relating to The Day Before were pulled from YouTube due to trademark complaints by a third-party. Fntastic later claimed that it was being targeted by the developer of a calendar app named "TheDayBefore". In August 2023, it was reported that Mytona and Fntastic had filed a trademark registration for the new title Dayworld. In November 2023, it was announced that the game would be released on Steam Early Access on December 7, 2023.

If this is their dream game, they should have had better dreams

I'm legit just impressed by the fact they actually released it. We all knew it was gonna be hot garbage but, damn I am surprised it actually came out

The rise of the gollum-like genre has been an amazing ride for all of us

What makes this whole situation that much more interesting is that they assumed thousands of players would be too stupid to remember any of the marketing. They sold a product that is no where near what was shown in trailers and gameplay.

We really need to have a "Worst Game" segment at TGA cause this year has had so many contenders lmao

"UE - Survival Game" looks like the name of an asset store kit or framework. Which I wouldn't doubt is the case. And that's not even a huge sin, they're there to help a game get off the ground with basic genre mechanics, but if they couldn't even be bothered to rename the project, I think that shows the exact level of effort that's reflected in the rest of the game.

The fact that they released it and charged 40 dollars for it is laughable

The main reason so many were skeptical of this game is due to the track record of this dev company. They have a proven track record of either never finishing games, or else the games they do release are bad and then they abandon them within months.

They need to start being realistic and saying things like “the game gets really good after you can’t refund it anymore and you have to try to find a way to enjoy it now that you’re stuck with it! :)”

Ubisoft literally has everything you need for this kind of game with the Division and breakpoint. All they would have to do is add zombies. I have no idea why they haven’t realized that they have a gold mine in their hands

Time to hold marketers accountable. They can’t keep getting away with this.

Damn this timeline is crazy we've somehow gotten some of the best games of the decade multiple time's a year, year after year & at the same time we've gotten some of the worst games of the decade multiple times a year, year after year this is one hell of a rollercoaster.

I don't blame people for being excited after the first trailer but I have zero sympathy for people disappointed Day Before didn't live up to the hype after the avalanche of evidence leading up to release

I worked at Mytona when the game was still in development and once in a while they would give us showcases to give us insight on the state of the game. The CEO of Mytona was playing it live before hundreds of people and the game was just as broken as it is right now, and that was back in 2020. There was an actual open-world, and you could actually drive the vehicles but when he tried to drive one, the car bugged out and flew away. They had to stop the showcase prematurely just to not embarrass themselves more than they already did.

The way he says "OK It's not bad..." "I'll give them that..." "That could work..." etc just sounds like he is encouraging a toddler. I don't know if it's intentional or not but it's just golden.

TheRadBrad is one of the most longing playing gamers I've watched. He's played so many games it's hard to believe THE DAY BEFORE is the first one he's EVER refunded. I think that shows just how trash this game is

Woodberry should have its own server. When you step into the open world, that should be a separate server. When it’s all one server you split the player base because some players might be afk in a safe zone.
