This song, each and every lyric of it, reads like an apology. An apology I'd read out to my younger self.
I sacrificed so much when I was younger, so much of myself. I postponed so many things because I'd thought if I focused on the much more "important" stuff, the "fun" will come later. After untimeously losing my dad in a car crash in my freshman year a decade ago, I had to work really hard to get through university. But the grief and morning of my dad got to me so much. I constantly had to keep digging deeper in order to get through it all. In digging deeper, I fell into a dark hole that shut me away from life and all of its pleasures. Today, a decade later, the only thing I have to show is a degree and a job. Nothing else. No wife. No child(ren). No home. No friends. No wholesome memories. Nothing. I feel like I cheated myself. But how could I have bot when I was going through so much?
