My parents used to play this album on hot summer days when we were all hanging out outside by the pool. Food on the grill, drinks in hand, not a care in the world. They got divorced in 2010, and I got addicted to hard drugs 2nd half of high school. my dad passed away in 2016, when I was 90 days sober, and this album is one of the fondest memories I have of him. Thank you Coldplay.

Someone once told me that music is an emotion amplifier. Itโs true and the degree to which it amplifies definitely indicates something buried in the construction much deeper than mere audible language. Itโs evident in this album, the fact that it gives me internal shivering from relinquished memories lodged deeper than my conscience awareness can perceive. I donโt know what Iโm remembering, but this music surfaces concrete picture under a blurred veil and keeps the profound meaning of experience, leaving me lost and frozen wondering why I have such a deep connection with what is playing.

One of my favorite albums of 2000. I actually still remember when it came out. I remember it being rainy out, autumnal, just like the sound of the record. After this and A Rush of Blood to the Head, they never sounded this way again. Kind of a shame. Still my favorite work by the band.
