Young but an old musical soul.
I grew up in the generation that cut their teeth on the Beatles and everything from the 60's and 70's...everything....Led Zep, Allman Bros, Steely Dan, Return to Forever, Metheny, Keith Jarrett, classical period instruments, ambient: Eno, Roach, more modern stuff these days--Moonchild, Jacob Collier, Sarah Jarosz, Tom Misch, Go Go Penguin, ie you name it my ears are open to everything. But Hania Rani is it, I mean it!
She had me at Hello which came out as a preview I think back in June and listened to it many times before the whole record came out in October, although I really liked her instrumental stuff from other albums already. Hearing this entire album was just a transformative experience; it's just a masterpiece and I LOVE her voice and singing! I reserve my highest compliment to musicians when I say, for lack of a better descriptor, or maybe from too many praises piled up in the brain, that they're...musical, just so very musical. And that's how I'd describe Hania--Musical!

After listening to the album 2 times now I have to say the Komeda is my favorite track. The album is excellent and just per usual we are being spoiled by Hania. That being said, it represents a little deviation. Perhaps the mark of an evolution of Hania as an artist. More electronic samples and a more calming voice. It all comes together nicely. In my subjective experience, my favorite tracks are usually those of Hania one on one with grand piano. But that's just me. other than that, an excellent addition to Hania Rani's repertoire.

This is the type of work that goes relatively unnoticed for a bit and then it blows up, or, at least, that’s what I believe will happen.
Boy is this good, these sounds are so soothing and they transport you someplace ethereal, it’s a type of dream where you feel like you’re both floating and descending but it isn’t daunting, on the contrary, it’s… tranquil.

Thanks Gondwana Records for promoting and believing in that kind of Artist.
It brings to me a certain hope, thinking that few people believe in that kind of beauty and necessity through that kind of deep -felt music.
Also, this album is brilliant, a journey, a story, with and without words. The talking and the mute are dialoguing with each other perfectly.
