Omg. You have outdone yourself. Loved the way you illustrated the benefits with the notebook and printed image time lapse accompanied by your voice over. Your production quality has dramatically improved in the past one year I’ve been following you. It shows how much effort you’re putting in to improve. Great job.

Ali, I am a long time fan.
The dentist in me says: While awake, it is perfectly normal for your teeth to be disengaged (Check out Vertical dimension of rest) yet your lips are supposed to remain competent (closed enough to allow for adequate nasal breathing). If not, the first step is to check with an ENT specialist to rule out Nasopharyngeal anatomical challenges or pathologies.
As a patient of sleep disorders: I am glad that are diving into this issue to raise awareness about the quality of breathing during sleep. Totally relatable. Wish you all the best.

I started mouth-taping around April, and now I tape my mouth probably 3-4x a week, having successfully trained myself to sleep with my mouth closed. This change in breathing has carried over into the daytime and has helped make mask-wearing for COVID much more comfortable. His assessments are pretty accurate with my own. I highly suggest people give it a try. The first couple nights may suck, and you may not wear it for the entire night, but eventually your nose adapts. I'm breathing better through my nose than ever, and I've had nasal problems my whole life.

I have been doing it for almost 6 months. It works: improve my sleep, my mouth is less dry (before that, sometimes my mouth got so dry that I coughed and that cough woke me up...) and yes, I share the same experience: I used to always sleep with my mouth open, after I started taping my mouth every night, even when I occasionally skip the tape, I am still able to keep my mouth shut. mouth taping's changed my habit

I just finished reading Breath By James Nestor. He talks about how terrible mouthbreathing is for your health. There is a whole chapter on it. He even goes as far as plugging his own nostrils for a few weeks to see how bad it really is for your health. This book has totally changed my perspective on breathing. I recommend you read this book!
