The "it's always cults abusing Shrine Maidens" plots are the best part though! The fun is in the details of what this cult did this time, and also they're meant to be commentaries on Japan's cultural history and a distinctly Japanese view on religion and cultural preservation in the face of like, ethical ambiguities and the Japanese tendency to promote the greater good over any individual life. The Shrine Maiden plots are consistent for a reason.

I played Fatal Frame 3 almost 2 decades ago. But the line 'it's raining again' is still etched in my brain. One scene i remember the most is the jump scare in the attic, nearly gave me a heart attack.

Update: Fatal Frame 5 is now being ported to the switch! While I hate that we have to prove there is interest for the series continuing by buying the a port of the worst game, consider picking it up to show Nintendo we want a fatal frame 6.
Sadly Youtube's compression killed the quality of Fatal Frame 1 and 2's sections as it fucked up the grain filters. In this video they are now a smuggy blurry mess and in motion create a weird flickering effect which isn't in the actual game. They could totally port the entire series to the switch and there would be basically no issues since motion controls wouldn't be hard to implement for the camera and would be much more fun overall

I used to play Fatal Frame 1-3 with my little sister. (Okay, she played and I watched because I'm a coward.) Such good memories. Back then, it was already hard to obtain pt. 2, so we were lucky when we were offered to borrow it from a local game store worker. It felt so special. Now I'm curious about the following parts!

Also, I like the sealing the gate of hell aspect. They're able to do it differently each time so there's no reason to get rid of something so epic and with high stakes when it doesn't negatively effect the storyline in any way.

Let’s not downplay the cgi elements of Courage the Cowardly Dog. It was some of the scariest shit out there for early 2000’s bad cgi animation.
