Special thanks to Eschatology Matters and Ryan for having me on! Really appreciate the heart behind the EM channel and the attempt to promote good conversations. It was a privilege to be on, and I hope it helps facilitate some good conversations going forward. I will try to respond to comments here on the video for a few days as I'm able.

This was very good. I can see how a literal interpretation makes sense of so many passages. Thanks for sharing.

Greatly enjoyed Peter! One scripture that comes to mind is Luke 24:44: Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Every true Christian believes what the OT says concerning Christ's first coming. But I feel some don't believe what the OT says concerning His second coming and all the details associated with that, such as the millennial kingdom, etc.

Great questions and answers. Dr. Goeman represents academic dispensationalism well.

I think it’s very telling how our dispensational brother uses our reading of the Constitution as a template for how we should read scripture. I think this is a big reason why our dispensational brothers have a hard time accepting the rich typology and continuity us in the covenantal camp see. The authors of the Constitution wrote very differently than the Spirit inspired authors of scripture. Scripture cannot be approached as a text book. We need to check our modernistic biases and presuppositions.

Thank you for this interview. Ultimately, "in context" means from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21. Jesus "opened their minds to understand the Scriptures," Luke 24:45. May He do the same for us. Maranatha!

Dr. Goeman seems very reasonable! His minimalism is attractive, because I think the biggest turnoffs to dispensationalism to me are: 1. Militant Zionism (I will bless those who bless thee…) 2. Insistence on pretrib rapture 3. Free Grace, because every problematic NT passage about obedience was simply “a future kingdom ethic written to Jews” It’s funny I come across him on a channel called eschatology matters because what is most refreshing about his flavor of dispensationalism is that it feels like eschatological differences can finally be reduced to a brotherly in house debate once again! Thank you both for a great interview

I really hope people will take the time to listen to Peter Goeman on here and feel no need to be hostile. He doesn’t believe in the cartoon whacky dispensationalism that’s used to being talked about. Disagree with him if you will, but disagree with his views as he presents them instead of the whacky dispensationalism that you’re used to hearing which he does not believe.

Be great to have a follow up and look at different millenial perspectives on OT promises for Israel, especially texts like Zechariah 14.

Can you please explain, why the Ezekiel Temple is a millenial temple? I dont see any parallels to Rev 20, but a lot of paralells to Rev 21-22, the new jerusalem and the eternal kingdom on the new earth.

My new go-to video on "what is dispensationalism." Loved the contrast to "pop dispensationalism" :)

Matt. 25:33 or 34 " then the king will", the first time king is used, as opposed to the previous "son of man".

36:20 If Paul, in Romans 2:25-29, is only talking about Jews who are taking pride in their ethnic and national identity and telling them they need to be circumcised in heart and be real Jews…then who is the uncircumcised guy, in 2:26, who’s uncircumcision will be regarded as circumcision?

This was great! Lots to chew on. I think the thing that struck me is saying “just be saved” here 1:07:38 It seems to simultaneously downplay the significance of salvation and exclude the gentiles from the “covenants of promise”. I think the answer to this is the kind of postmillenialism that recognizes both the individual salvation as well as the promises being fulfilled by Christ as he reigns now, pushing his crown rights and reign to all the world. So in that sense, we (gentiles) aren’t “just saved” as well. It’s also not a let down to national Israel (from OT, not modern).

I totally reject the "egalitarian argumentation" thesis. Ephesians 2:15 refutes that. There is one new man in Christ and within that one new man there are no distinctions. The analogy of difference between male and female does not apply here.

I was dispensational until I started finding more and more contradictions between biblical context and dispensational teaching. After recalculating the 70 weeks and finding all the historical and biblical mistakes in the dispensational interpretation of Daniel 9, I eventually became Amill. I still have a literal understanding of the bible but in light of 2. Peter 3, Hebrews 1+4+11+12 etc., I understand that Israels promises will be fullfilled on the new earth and in the new Jerusalem eternally and not temporarily on this earth for a millenium. (The word ZION is always used for a heavenly place in the new testament!). Also Ephesians 2, Romans 11 and the book of Revelation and Ezekiel makes it clear, that the church is crafted into Israel and doesn't replace it, not permanently (replacement theology) and not temporarily (dispensationalism).
