We dream of one day being able to do music as a career and be successful doing what we love to do. We have a vision and deep down we know what we're capable of, but when the people we care most about don't support our dreams it sucks. I know what it feels like to be told that you're wasting your time by someone you look up to. Feeling discouraged and filling your head with doubt is the fastest way to watch your dreams go down the drain. So what can you do to change their mind and make them believe in you? Well you might not be ready to hear the answer to that question...

You have to believe in yourself as much as you believe in your favorite artist...that's serious. Never thought about that. Great post!

I recently decided as a 27 year old to drop everything and give it my all at music. Here is why. The past few years I have let myself become warped by societal and familial expectations. I put writing and playing shows on the back burner because of this. Denying myself all this time has ultimately come to a head just this year. I finished my prerequisites and nearly applied to nursing school finally but didn’t, I realized I needed to leave my marriage and got divorced, and I packed up and moved back to my hometown. I’ve spent the past 5 months trying SO hard to find a new path, all the while neglecting music, the one thing I love. I imagined being 65 and what I would have wanted in my memory. And all I could think about is singing my songs to people who want to hear them. I have NOTHING to lose by choosing music and I would rather fail super hard than never try super hard. Nursing school can wait. Your video has bolstered my resolve man.

I am still so young, with a massive music dream. I know nothing yet about making music, but I am willing to push myself to the limits to learn and succeed. This video truly inspired me!

This video really clicked something inside me, I've always wanted to become a christian music artist but my family hasn't been so supportive on this.... they keep telling me like you said "get a real career" and "keep it as a hobby" but NO! I'm done! This is what i want to do and i promise myself that one day ill get there, to everyone out there who is sharing the same dream, GOD bless and good luck brothers and sisters in christ! Keep going!

It's heartbreaking to me when I see people say things like: "I always wanted to be a singer since I was young... and my parents laughed at that dream... so now I work at Wendy's full-time." Even though I'm someone who's speaking out against that... I struggle with it myself. I'm at a fork in the road right now... and I hope to take the right turn. And I really want to see everyone here succeed... I want to hear your beautiful music. Please don't give up.

1) I have to believe in myself as much as I believe in my favorite artists. Because if I don't think I'm good, how do I expect from other people to think I'm good? 2) I need to do things. I cannot wait for a sign. If I won't push myself, I won't get pushed 3) My self-believing should come from myself. And I shouldn't be sad because someone said some shit about me. I cannot be afraid to start. If I'll be like "oh they said I'm bad so I should quit" I'll Never achieve my dream of being known for my singing-songwriting. I can't be afraid to start. I can't be afraid of what people say. 4) I don't ask the world for their opinion. I come and do what I love and that's it. None of my favorite artists is asking what I think of their stuff 5) I don't ask for any opinion / permission. I do what I do because I know I'm capable of and I want to show it. 6) I have to love myself as much as I love my favorite artists. Because if I don't love myself. How am I expecting for people to love me?

I'm 24 and stuck in a job that I don't like and I can't resign yet due to pandemic. I've always wanted a music career since I was in my teens but people kept on telling me that it's not a stable career, and I'll just waste my time and energy. Thank you for inspiring me once again to try and shoot my shot. :')

“What separates you from your favorite artist?” money, a label, a fan base of any size even if it’s 10 people, the right instruments, etc.

I'm 16 now, I've written so many songs and worked so hard all of my life singing in choirs and performing on stage with over 1000 people and since my voice dropped i thought i lost my dream everything i wanted to be. But i built myself up wrote songs learnt guitar and many people has congratulated me over the years. But now that i want to take my dream to the next level. People keep doubting me again and again even my school's guidance counselor because i was suicidal for a year. Music helpes me cope and was there for me when my even my parents and so called friends couldn't. I'm the only one who believes in me. It's hard! But i won't give up now. Amd you shouldn't either! Stop dreaming and do it!

since i was younger, i knew i was meant to do something awesome with my life. i've always been a creative person but i never wanted to chase fame. i always would sing and people would tell me that im not good enough, but it never silenced me. I knew that i would need practice to challenge my vocal abilities and i always taught myself how to grow vocally. its gotten to the point now that i can hit amazing highs and amazing lows without even thinking twice about it. I always wanted to do music, im an artist (visual arts) and have always done it my whole life as well, but i never find it as enjoyable as expressing myself vocally. One day, recently, my boyfriend and i were singing and playing around and he had me practice a song "sandcastles" by beyonce (one of my favorite songs ever) and as i was singing the song it slipped out and he called me a natural. that was the first time in my whole life - im 27 this month - that i have ever felt confident in my singing abilities, to the point that i want to possibly make a career out of it. I am currently learning how to make music and create compositions that are unique to my message. mark this day as the beginning of me finally living out my dreams. it's the beginning of a new age for L!

The key is to just keep releasing and grow a fanbase. Stay consistent and create music on your downtime!
