This is an absolute misunderstanding of why we do things. The reason to keep children in school for 10 years, when you could just tell them everything they needed to know in less than one year, is not to waste their time. It takes a long time to actually acquire knowledge, it's not enough just to hear it! How many things do you hear in a day, how much information is presented to you, that is potentially important to you? A LOT! But you retain very little of the knowledge, because your capacity is limited, and you learn more from experience, and experiences take time to go through. If you want to be a skilled athlete, you have to train and build your body, which takes time, and you have to train your athletic skills, which takes time and effort and a lot of repetition. If you you want to be very good at anything at all, you must train and acquire the attributes and knowledge necessary to be good at that thing, otherwise you will never be very good at anything, and you will be stuck in perptual mediocrity, you will always be unremarkable, and you will not be able to build a lasting legacy. If you only want to exist, then by all means, simply eat and reproduce, but if you want to truly live, you must strive to be great!
