When I first found this song, I was in a dark place. Admittedly, it did not help. The eerie, melancholic keen at the start of the piece became the anthem of my sorrow. The violins felt fleeting, and sad under the grandeur. Like the last frame of a sad movie.
I found myself in a similar sorrow. In my lament I decided to listen to that which had cradled my misery.
To my surprise, this time I was carried out of the bog of my own making, flying upon the wings of strings, as I was uplifted by a song that now sounded like hope.
Swiftly the melody escapes the heft of the first somber notes, building from the darkness instead of spewing from it.
The power of music to mean two different things to the same person, separated only by time.
