English text:
I am seen.
They see me in compartments.
Endless trains.
My head bent over and catching the night.
Things appear, disappear, and will not return. A pavilion, a street, a blue plastic pool like this.
And when I get to the platform it's July, it's Marseille, the sun is white, and the skin sticks to my clothes.
I am seen.
In flats. In evenings with windows open to the wind. Entrance hallway, and against the wall. Reaching the next room.
Talking to a girl, talking too loudly, she'll say something I can't hear, she'll say it again, leaning towards me, leaning her whole body, and it would be so easy to talk to each other in the late afternoon behind the harbour. Behind the harbour.
They see me
They see me on a motorway service area. In front of the coffee machine. The vending machine. And I've driven so much, so the arms up, the stretching, to look like an idea I had, long ago. On the road the asphalt is boiling, so the image shakes in front and it looks like all those shots, all those movies I saw when I was 17. There's still a way to go. It's going to be dark when we get there. And I still hope it will look like. Like Jim Jarmush, or Louise and Thelma. Or Louise and Thelma.
I am seen.
They see me.
They see me walking on rocks, acting like it's still summer, all the people are gone, the tans are disappearing in Paris, they see me staying around here, here they know me, they know I have a boat over there, a boat over there.
I'm seen on the rocks.
I have been seen with my hair soaked in this street. Back when I was waiting downstairs. Or I was hoping for that story. I would wait for hours each time. And sometimes, without knowing why, she would come, she would kiss me, we would go away in the night, and sometimes she would change her mind. Then sometimes I was seen. My hair soaked in her street.
I am not seen.
In that room. Behind the shutters. The day progresses.
And I write the dance. I always have. Like those teenage Sundays. When everyone went for a walk, to the forest, to the ponds. And I always stayed inside. I stayed. My Japanese synthesizers. And today, twenty years later, I still stay. When everyone else has gone outside. And it's just at that moment.
That no one sees me.
