Dave is talking about doing a version of this on the 2023 tour. This would be wonderful for the fans! The second album didn't get strong critical acclaim and is rated as the least best by many. This has contributed to the The Sun and the Rainfall going under the radar for many years. It's a hidden gem! Powerful lyrics and deep synth vibes. It was a clear sign of the immense things to come from Martin's profound songwriting. If I ever met Martin or Dave, I'd say "Please do this live!" I'm on old fan from Essex and have booked for gigs in Germany and Belgium.

Does anyone else find Dave's vocals competing with Alan and Martins during the harmony?
On a positive note I love how Dave is exploring his stage presence. Its almost as if he became much more confident after Vince left.

this is absolutely one of their most underappreciated songs. Something about it just really resonates with me. The sounds, the layered vocals, the synths. It's such a brilliant choice for a final song on the album. It really feels like a sort of wrapping up to the album. An exquisite ending.

I can't believe there is only one evidence of them performing this live from 1982. If I was in Depeche Mode I would do this song every show. It's one of their best along with "Here is the house" which also has only one poor live video of Martin performing it with guitar only.
