I was at this concert. I was there with my then high school sweetheart. We were 16 years old. We were standing on the chairs throughout the entire concert. I remember during the second part of the synthesizers ( where Dave Gahan sits and takes it in) my girl friend looked at me with tears rolling down her eyes. She didn’t have to say anything. We both knew what each other were thinking. It’s a memory I will never forget for as long as I live. What a magical night. I was so fortunate to be a young man during the 80’s. Nothing can compare to those years...after seeing all the reply’s I thought I would edit this post. Something about this song really moved my high school sweetheart. She would tear up when we would hear this song at home, or driving in the car. She had beautiful green eyes. I would sometimes look at her and call her “green” and she would respond with a smile only she could make with her cute dimples and call me “brown” right back. I had brown eyes obviously. Such wonderful memories. I don’t understand how two years back then could seem like an eternity. Two years now that I’m 51 go by in a blink of an eye. It’s so sad that some of the artists that I loved so much are starting to pass away. Really makes me reflect on my own mortality…
04/04/23- Hi everyone. Just a quick update, my wife and I bought tickets to DM concert in December here at the staples center downtown Los Angeles. Unfortunately I’m sure that this will be the last time I see them in concert. It’s so crazy how fast time goes by. I blinked and was in my fifties. I’ll let everyone know how the concert went. Sad that AF won’t be there. Peace and love to everyone.
12/16/23- Happy holidays to all. Just giving an update, saw Depeche Mode last night at Crypto arena in Downtown Los Angeles. I knew I was going to enjoy myself, but wow. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the band. Their music has morphed into a more rock sound which is awesome. Dave had so much energy it amazed me at 62 he can dance and run around the set, squat and jump…it’s Almost like they have more energy now than they did when they were younger. Some of the music brought back so many memories that I had to wipe away a few tears. I’ve never been one to dance and sing at concerts, but I sang almost every song and did a little dancing as well. We had aisle seats so it was awesome. We are contemplating going back tomorrow. I’ll let you guys know. The 80’s were such an important decade for me. I started at 9, and ended at 18 years old. I grew from a boy, to a young man with all the life experiences that goes along with growing up. I experienced love and heart break. The one constant that helped me through the decade was the music and especially Depeche Mode. I hope everyone who wants to see them is able to do so. Many blessings and a safe new year ❤️

I hate that song so much. It makes me cry like no one ever did. Why does 80s nostalgic depression hit so hard ? I’m 15, into metal and 80s music. I don’t know how it is possible to feel nostalgia from something that we never lived, and I think this makes it worse to handle for me. I suffer when I listen to this song, especially with this video. Tears keep rolling, my hands are trying to grab something, my legs are stretching. I love that song so much.
