The simplistic style with the drawings is so cool. The narration is easy to hear and understand. Every single time I see one of these videos I click on them because I love hearing your voice, seeing the cool simplistic drawings, the philosophic questions + answers. I don't care if it took a week, a month, a year, I just want to watch a video with all these chill vibes, giving you information, but also not a complete video essay.

Truth be told, there'll never be a perfect game, and that's good. The thing that keeps innovation and evolution happening is the strive for that unachievable perfection.
And then there's the subjective angle. Your perfect game may be an incredibly flawed badly aged game, but that makes it no less perfect. It's because of the things that led to the game being your favourite. Maybe you spent hours in line at the shop to get it and made a friend in line. That's part of the game. Maybe you had hundreds of games against your brother that bonded you together even more. That's part of the game. Maybe the game opened your eyes to your favourite genre, even if it's not the best example of it. That's part of the game.
These videos are perfect too honestly. Amazing topics explained wonderfully with great presentation. Perfection is all around us.

I haven’t seen any comments mention Outer Wilds yet, which is so far the best single player game I have played. It’s soundtrack is amazing and incredibly connected with the game itself, it has gameplay mechanics I have almost never seen before, and it has made me cry multiple times. I can’t say too much about it, as progression through it is entirely knowledge based. Basically you are a space archeologist/detective solving planet wide puzzles and mysteries. It may take up to an hour for the game to click but for everyone I have seen play it past an hour or two they always finish it. If you are on the fence just glance at the Reddit and avoid posts tagged with spoilers, the community is very careful about not spoiling anything.

This overall is fairly good analysis if you want to make a game but keep 1 thing in mind.
Know Who You Are Making The Game For!
Decide on a target audience and explore their mindset from a psychological point of view before you start designing anything.
This is something that even big AAA developers get wrong way too many times, and what is probably the most important factor in determining how successful a game will be.
Also explore, and play other games that were made or are highly enjoyed by your target audience.
Take into consideration that if you are aiming to cover multiple audiences pick wisely. If you have to make game design decisions that are "compromises" so that multiple audiences can enjoy the game, you are already headed for failure.
Avoid compromises in general. A compromise is a decision that makes both sides equally *unhappy*. Not one that makes people happy.
Don't forget that audiences for whom the game is designed for includes the developers (profit, maintainability, possibility of DLCs) and can include content creators as well.

Arch, I just want to say me and my close friends have started trying to make a game and we are still in the early stages like most of us getting unreal engine downloaded but a couple of us have already got the map rolling. Your videos have helped me so much with planning, writing, and visualizing the game. I know we're still in the early stages but at some point I'd like to throw you in as a character or an eg. Nonetheless I thank you, I thank you Arch. Have a great day
