What I actually like about this is that I’m watching mature people on the screen. He actually looks like he could lift her convincingly. 😅 Both leads seem to be mature and straightforward which is a good change. Their interactions hooked me even though some say that it’s not that interesting. I love them together.

The actor was PERFECT for the role, even when he was a 'sickly' mortal. He isn't your normal 'mortal', now isn't he, so of course he's not going to look like a sickly human. Plus he takes medicine on a daily basis.
And no, he doesn't have to look like a 'skinny tree' in order for us to believe he is the highest immortal. WTF! Do you think only tall anorexic actors can play that role then? The actor is actually thin, but just not anorexic thin. He looks manly and elegant, how I picture an immortal god to look like, not like an anorexic teenager. So I totally disagree with you on that.
Also isn't the ACTING more important than the LOOKS? I and many other people who have been following the drama think that Lin Geng Xin he has the acting and the right looks for the role,

The story isn’t new but it works. I find the ML to be incredibly handsome and charismatic. Their chemistry is amazing and I’m enjoying it immensely.

Love it! The way they display the fl inner strength and vulnerability was perfect. Sometimes ppl think a strong woman can only be strong. But in this show, they showed her being a warrior, leader, and a woman,a not afraid of showing her softer, more vulnerable side with a really man who understood that she could be both strong and soft. And he was there to support her, regardless of what she needed. He was a partner in battle and a shoulder to cry on with no judgement. Just a man and woman in love. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is one of the most entertaining cdrama so far. The lead characters are mature and that is quite refreshing, when all we see nowadays are young kids acting on screen like headless chickens. ZYL and LGX are just perfect for their roles in this show. To say they’re too old came off a bit agist. I really hope you will give it another try with this drama and watch it with a more objective eye.

Normally I enjoy your critics, but I find this time, you are way too negative. For one, I appreciate that the two lead actors are actually mature, which makes them credible as characters who hold great power and responsability. And they do have a great chemistry.

I actually LOVE this drama. I'm not seeing the issues that you are ranting about. 😉 I like the banters and grown-up aspect of this genre. I can't see anyone else who can deliver these performances. If it wasn't the two leads, chemistry and acting, I would have to agree with you.

After watching the whole drama for the second time, I changed my mind and marked The Legend of Shenli as one of the best dramas in recent years and I do plan to rewatch it at least once every year. In the first round I did feel that the script is a little too loose, but when I watch it for the second time, I realized there were so many hidden themes and deep philosophy everywhere. Also there are so many great scenes that makes people laugh or scream or cry that I rewatched them over and over.

i will say avenuex was a bit too harsh with this drama review. shen li would definitely be up there compared to the recent xianxias that have been lacking.
i was waiting for her to mention the drama's merits like the amazing soundtracks or chemistry between the leads but this review just felt like a hate rant, not to mention the ageism which throws me off

I really enjoyed this drama. I think LGX and ZLY have fantastic chemistry. They are absolutely the correct age to play these characters and they did so perfectly. The cinematography was absolutely beautiful. CGI quality is high. The OST is vastly engaging.
One of the best xianxia made in recent years that closely followed the source material.
I usually agree with avenues reviews but not so this time around. Each person should make their own decision on watching this drama.

I do enjoy that the female role isn't weak and annoying.
But yes, being an overused plot, it definitely doesn't give you any more excitement. I think most people are enjoying this because of the Main Leads.

That was exactly the point of this drama, AvenueX. The High God's logic was hard to understand. The ML thought that the High God's way conveyed no sense, and he decided/declared to fight against it. And he did! That's what I really like about this drama. This is so much different from other xianxia dramas I have watched.

This drama doesn't need a plot; the plot is SHEN LI AND XING ZHI'S CHEMISTRY 😭💓 I'M ADDICTED TO THEM, THEY'RE MY CRACK. L O V E this show.
(Also I like the glowy orange colour, all of Shen Li's outfits are bomb, and LGX's bulky body gives sexy daddy vibes and tbh I am here for it)

I don't think the actors are old for the role. They look mature and beautiful. If you want younger looking, look at Mofang and Furong😅
