Have you heard of the Mennonites? They are an offshoot of the Amish (a sub-sect of Christianity that originates in Switzerland in the 1800s). Today, the Mennonites live in small communities around the Midwest, USA, as well as in Belize, Bolivia and other countries in Latin America. What's fascianting is that they live a completely isolated life without the use of internet, TV or music -- something that is almost impossible to comprehend in today's society.

Thanks to my friends Zach and Janki, I was able to get secret access into a Mennonite community in northern Wisconsin, where I was able to learn about their bizarre way of life. I was even invited into one of their homes for a meal, and it was an out-of-body experience, to say the least!

What do you think about the Mennonites? Do you agree or disagree with their way of life? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below!

Just out of curiosity, have you ever heard of Mennonites before watching this video? I really enjoyed telling this story and this year, I plan to share more stories about the lesser known communities in the USA 🇺🇸

Where I live in Canada, I'm surrounded by Mennonites. They are the kindest and hardworking people I've ever met. I'm in Hvac and everytime I'm in a Mennonite house for work they always invite me to stay for dinner.

I grew up a Mennonite and I am Nigerian. Yes I went to college and became a doctor, but I won’t trade my upbringing in the Mennonite faith for anything. It helped to equip me with principles that I still apply to my daily life. Thank you drew for this, when I saw the clip on IG I couldn’t help but come watch it here🎊🎊🍾🎉🎉🎉

As an Orthodox Christian I find their community very interesting. The people seem so kind. I can see how someone would find fulfillment and comfort in their lifestyle. Love this video!

They aren’t “stuck” in the 1800’s. They live in the modern world according to their principles and beliefs.

I grew up in a Mennonite community with connections to this community and recognized some folks. I'm very surprised they allowed you to film inside their church.

I'm Catholic (our parish is tiny). The Mennonites are some of the best people you will ever meet. I'm in a wheelchair, and they have built me, not one, but TWO handicapped ramps. The first one was built when I still used a walker, 15 years ago. Last year, now that I use a wheelchair, they came back and built a new ramp that is not as steep. They did this for free!! I only had to buy the lumber. The ladies came to visit with me, while the men worked on the ramp. They brought food as well. One of the ladies has adopted two black inner city girls. They are amazing people who truly live their Christianity.

We have an incredible Mennonite and Amish community in Holmes County Ohio. The most honest hard working folks I’ve had the pleasure to work with. ✝️

About 4 months ago I received an invite to a Thanksgiving singing from some mennonites and was then invited to the Lena mennonite church and I have to say it was the most beautiful religious experience I ever had!! I have only missed church once since then (going twice a week and a Bible study once a week. I've never felt closer to God than I do now! I encourage everyone to experience this like I have and the singing literally makes you feel closer to God!! Soooo beautiful. I would like to thank God for putting these people In my life!

I respect the Mennonites, they are admirable for staying devoted to their beliefs and values that they cherish. Some people interpret this as boring and a mundane lifestyle, when in reality, it is a gifted culture these people live in. Mennonites are not like the general public always flocking to buy the latest products or living their lives on social media or getting involved in many wrongful acts, but they cherish and desire a simple life. That is what most of us forget. Love from Trinidad 🇹🇹❤🇺🇸

When i moved from asia to the US and went to college in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, it was the first time i’ve known about the Mennonites and they are the kindest people. I went to their church and the pastor even invited me over to his house for thanksgiving since i had no family around. Miss the good times spent with them.

I know no community is perfect. Nor is there always an ideal lifestyle. But the Mennonite for the most part have found a balance. They admit they have all the same struggles as the rest of us. Nicely done Drew and team.

Good storytelling Drew. Fascinating to get a window in to one of these very secluded communities. God bless and lots of love from Norway...

Thanks for visiting this community and sharing about their way of life and faith without making light of their beliefs. Our family is very religious (not Mennonite) and my kids really enjoy your content. It was nice to have someone showcase Christian beliefs and traditional values without mocking or speaking negatively. God bless and safe travels!
