Hello Inked! Please consider investing in captioning your videos and/or opening community caption contributions. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities like tattoos too!

" They don't want someone like me handling their money" Ummm.. do people not realize that it's usually people in suits that steal and embezzle millions of dollars from people and their companies?? Like yeah, I'ma risk my job to steal what little money you have in your account, Debra.

I'm a lawyer and I have a lot of tattoos and my bosses don't care because I look like a lawyer when I wear a suit.

Today, my calculus professor for this semester showed her sleeve and it made me so happy to see that she's the head of my university's math department and she can show them. I have a tattoo on my forearm and thigh and it's nice to see someone thrive in a professional career at a place I can do professional research at. I also work in a restaurant. 5 years ago, they wanted people to cover up their tattoos but as of the past 2 years they allow them to be shown as long as they aren't inappropriate or offensive.

My absolute favorite experiences are when senior citizens, 75+ come up to me and start a conversation with me about my tattoos in a positive light. Normally it's a woman and I think she's about to give me shit for my horror/macabre ink. She instead comments on how good the line work is. How the artist was able to use the gray & white tones to create a different "feeling" to the overall presence, the color saturation and details he was able to punch in. While I stand their dumbstruck that she, a blank canvas, even knows what these things are and isn't telling me that I'm going to Hell for marring the body Jesus sacrificed his life for. The conversation normally ends with her telling me that she gained acceptance for tattoos when her granddaughter or grandson got one. That she/he now comes over every Tuesday night and they watch Ink Master together. A few times they've even told me that they've gone to conventions together.

I have neck and face tattoos and I get asked all the time if I have a job. I like to answer with "Ya, I help build 747s. Tattoos cost alot."

I think it’s interesting how people that work like professional full time jobs for the most part can have tattoos and it’s okay but trying to interview at like a retail store or a chain restaurant and they are so anti tattoo it’s crazy

I'm a nurse and I am so happy to say that recently the policy of not having visible tattoos has changed, at least where I work. I am very heavily tattooed and it's so great now that I don't have to wear long sleeves all the time and cover them up. I always hated trying to hide all my artwork and 90% of my patients, regardless of their age, comment on and love my ink. I've even had a couple doctors say they love it! I'm very happy that the stigma is finally going away...

IV noticed that people with colored tattoos give people less of the 'oh you've been to jail' kinda impression as compared to the black and grey style.

I feel like women get judged more harshly than men for being heavily tattooed. Especially as a mother. I have my full sleeve almost finished and I get dirty looks compared to my husband. I guess it’s up to interpretation.

If I see a professional covered in quality ink then hell yeah I wanna work with them because they're probably good at their job - it's expensive getting good tatts lol

the reason i don't have tattoos on my forearms is because of my work but not why you might think, i work in dog grooming and the last thing i want is a dog biting or scratching a fresh tattoo and getting it infected or having a healed tattoo ruined with scaring from a deep scratch. (cutting pug nails gives me a new scar every time).

I'm a nurse, and I have tattoos. Now I wear sleeves just in case, also because it's policy, but my patients always comments something positive and admire them. Having tattoos, piercings, colored hair, etc. Doesn't really make the person, rather it's the quality that they put into their work environment, etc.

Worked in banking operations management for 5+ years, would be covered wrists to ankles for 8-12 hours a day. Every company party, I would wear khaki shorts and get the stares. Being heavily tattooed in Hawaii is common practice but the banking, finance, insurance, and airlines industries here still have their hangups about it. If you're heavily tattooed and work in the Medical field, come here, there is ZERO discrimination (I've heard and seen, personally spend a lot of time in there because of epilepsy).
