I'd say the skills learned up to 12:58 are a good place to start, but afterwards, I would say learning to do 2d geometric shapes would be next, followed up with constructing simple 3d forms.
Texture and Shading ARE fundamental skills to drawing, but done in this order in the video so soon would only confuse and waste time for the beginner artist, especially since a lot of those two skills ride on already understanding the 3d form first.
