Speak Now was Taylor’s first fully self written album (no co-writers) and was actually originally called Enchanted but was encouraged to change the name to speak now 1. “Mine” was at the time Taylor’s ideal hope for a relationship. Secret message was “Toby” who was the actor who played the boyfriend in the music video 2. “Sparks Fly” was a song she originally wrote when first starting out that she only played in bars with Jake Owen in Portland Oregon which happens to be the secret message but eventually rewrote it and the final version is what we have on the album.
