The first one was so sad. It was excellently narrated and written. It was touching too.

It's refreshing having a different subject like space as the camping & paranormal are now well worn.

Talking about the challenger explosion brought back memories. I was 8yrs old watching on TV at school. Saw the whole thing live. So many tears from the adults. Thank you for telling this story. RIP Challenger crew

Joel, your description of the Columbia brought me to tears. You did them honor with the eloquent and articulate telling of the disaster.

It's a shame you didn't mention the picture of Komorov that was taken posthumously. He wanted an open casket so that the world could see what the USSR had done to him. Needless to say this would not be the last time the Soviet's attitude towards science and engineering would badly backfire

I live in Central Florida, and I remember watching the Challenger liftoff out on the ball field with the other students of my school. It was going up, up, up and then there was this loud BANG!, then what I guess were the rocket boosters separating but soon the ship was plummeting...we all watched awestruck..the kids dumb with confusion, the adults quietly sobbing at the realization that a teacher, just like them, was not coming home. Sadly, the yearbook cover that year was emblazoned with the Challenger theme, as it was too late to change it by the time of the explosion. Still a haunting moment in my life to this day.

My fourth grade teacher was one of 11,000 applicants for the NASA Teacher in Space Program. A local news station even featured our class with him teaching us as he was one of the finalists, I believe.. ultimately he wasn't selected, Christa McAuliffe was. We were doing mathematics when our science teacher announced the Challenger exploded and we ended up watching it on the news. What's sad is that some mean kids were like "if Mr Johnson (my fourth grade teacher) had been on the Challenger when it exploded, I'd be happy.

I was 11 years old on the day of the Challenger disaster. That morning my mother had taken me to Boston for a dentist appointment. We got home just in time for me to watch the launch. All us kids knew about the launch because of Christa McAuliffe from nearby New Hampshire. I remember watching thd disaster live on TV and then a bit later walking a couple of hours before school let out. What a nightmare. I didn’t understand for years later what caused the problem; NASA not listening to its engineers.

I'd like to hear horror stories about a person's first time getting into the music industry or the modeling industry.

There's also the story of the 2 Russian Rescue Dogs, the first living creatures sent up in to space. They did not survive (suffocation), but they were considered heroes.

Challenger was the first national tragedy I so strongly recall. I was 10 years old... watching from my 4th grade classroom 😢

I was just an infant during the Challenger disaster, but very much adult during Columbia's....had recently given birth actually. I watched news coverage like everyone else. I don't think I've ever read or heard what they experienced during those final moments in such detail. Hearing it all has made me physically ill.
