Our today’s topic is once again railway stations and our attempt to bring your closer to their beauty, architecture, and appearance.

As in the previous video, in which we covered a series of five stations, the stations that we selected as most breathtaking, have no rank ie. - they are not classified according to any criteria as that would be an impossible task for us as rail lovers. These stations are in fact the result of our viewer's comments and suggestions from the previous video and the result of a poll that we recently launched on the channel.

On our today’s journey, on a quest for the most beautiful railway stations, we will visit Italy (Milano Centrale), the Netherlands (Amsterdam Central), Japan (Tokyo), Germany (Berlin), and France (Gare de Lyon).

Milano Centrale was the first Train Station I ever went to. It was really magnificent such detailed architecture and gigantic halls, it almost seemed more like a museum than a Station 😅

Wrocław Główny (Wroclaw Main Station) is probably the most beautiful train station in Poland

Dresden Hauptbahnhof, Praha hlavní nádraží and Basel SBB are definitely missing on this list! Dresden because of its history and how it’s designed, being both a terminus station and having tracks that go through it. Prague because of its wonderful station building. And Basel because of its international flair.

My personal favorite railway architectural marvel is Grand Central Terminal. I've had the opportunity to eat at the Michael Jordan Steakhouse there before it closed and the views looking down at all the people and up with the huge windows and magnificent constellation ceiling are incredible. And to think it could've gotten the same fate as the original NY Penn Station...thankfully Jackie Kennedy helped push the effort to save it For those in this vid, I like Berlin Hauptbahnhof with its modern approach. A modern train station can be brilliant when done right, and they understood the assignment.

Glasgow Central Station is one of my favourites that nobody seems to talk about much. It has a huge glass roof and an impressive interior, as well as the iconic part where the whole station goes over one of the busiest streets in the city. The front facade is a huge hotel so I don't know if that counts as part of the station, but if it does then that's a very grand impressive structure too. It holds a lot of cultural significance in Scotland and you can go on a tour of the passageways and non-passenger areas, including a whole abandoned underground platform which once served the argyle line commuter rail.

I Thinks Lisboa - Oriente, Lisboa - Rossio and Porto - São Bento are some worth mentioning. And the small station of Santarém is one of the most beautiful in Portugal. And great video as always!!!

Thanks for the great video. Just a small correction: the picture shown for Florence Santa Maria Novella station is actually that of the Santa Maria Novella Church (completed in 1470) not the station (which is located opposite). The station itself is in fact a prime example of Italian rational architecture; interesting in its own way but a far cry from the beautifully decorated church.

Toledo Station (Spain) is a small station, but it is an architectural jewel.

Cool video, thx! For the 3rd part, I‘d love to see Zurich HB in it. Beautiful station and has the 3rd most passengers per day in Europe

Definitely Station Lage Zwaluwe in the Netherlands. It lies about 6 km away from the village of Lage Zwaluwe (other villages are closer) and according to a survey in 2019 by the national rail service NS, it is the least popular train station in the country. Amazing.

Union Station in DC is worth mentioning. Even for tourists that don't use the train in DC, they'll check out Union Station because the architecture is so stunning.

3:36 that is obviously not the picture of Firenze’s Santa Maria Novella station, it’s the nearby church that gave the name to the station

Kyoto Station and Nagoya Towers (Nagoya Station) were two of my favorites in Japan.

As a Washingtonian, I can't help but brag about how Milano Centrale was modeled after our stunning DC Union Station. Though sadly our station is way less useful.

Our main station is Pyongyang. The original station was constructed in the 1920s by the Empire of Japan who occupied Korea at the time, the original architectural style being akin to the original Seoul station built at a similar time, with the two cities once linked together. But it was destroyed during the war in the 50s and thus was rebuilt in socialist style as part of the bigger reconstruction of Pyongyang. The station connects with other cities in the country like Rason and Nampo. You can also catch a service to Beijing four times weekly. Every day at 6am, a rendition of Where Are You, Dear General? is played on the station's speakers as an alarm clock for the city. Tourists love to record when this happens
