Zelda: Ocarina of Time speedruns were changed forever in January 2024, when an accidental discovery when investigating a glitch completely obsoleted a speedrun route that lasted 12 years. Goodbye Ganondoor. Hello Ganonfloor.

During the production of this video, it was discovered this glitch can lead to wrong warp chaining on the Gamecube version https://youtu.be/VHSClx5n9g4?si=9QMAzfL0tKzwGEDN This discovery will lead to an even faster route for Defeat Ganon, as well as other categories. Keep an eye out for a video from DannyB

13:44 I love how he casually says "Next is a tricky part", as though everything that has been done so far has seemed perfectly reasonable.

This is why I never believe those annoying videos that say "THIS is why speedrunners will NEVER beat this run!!" Even accidents end eras.

For someone only vaguely familiar with glitchy speedruns, it’s really amusing to hear the unbroken route explained because each next step sounds like such a spontaneous asspull spoken with such matter-of-factness.

The speed running community could probably cure cancer if we just called it a world record

It's amazing how fast the Gannonfloor glitch has progressed in such a short time. It's progressed so fast that even though this video was uploaded 2 hours ago, the route is already obsolete and the new route involves pausing once to get the right pixels, it involves the volume of the enemy music to be a certain value and the loading collision is easier to get to, being located just below one of the moving pillars

My favorite speedrunning trope is when people find seemingly useless glitches then years later it turns out they’re actually crucial to the most insane skips that change the speedrunning community forever

I love how a key component of the route is rushing to get there before it gets to nighttime It may not be something that really affects good runs, since they're probably beyond needing to worry about that, but it just feels almost poetic to have a speed run have to worry about the passage of fictional, in-world time

A 2nd dungeon route being faster than a 1st dungeon route? That's crazy.

Classic ocarina of time having holes so big in memory you can create your own loading zone.

5:05 - Ah, MrCheeze was involved. MrCheeze was the one who figured out that Pokémon Stadium could be used for Arbitrary Code Execution on the N64.

13:45 "Next, is a tricky part", me that has no clue how he got out of Kokiri Forest: Yes, yes, this does look tricky indeed.

I cant wait for ScottFalco to animate this. His OoT and WW speedrun animations are several years old already but still very fun to return to every once in a while.
