Hey, I’m the guy in Colorado that you made a “ jam band convert”. Thank you for your lessons! Truly, the lessons are helping me get through this virus quarantine.
I was watching your videos again about playing modes, specifically, the 1-4-5, and had learned mode diagrams (positions) through Sean Daniel. I then starting trying to play the modes through the positions of either 1 Ionian, 2 Dorian, and etc...
Then you gave a lesson about moving the positions, ( which totally makes sense). But, I get stuck thinking about where I am in a key? So, if I took your 145 from G, would I solo in D, ( when D chord is playing), on the 10th fret in Lydian ?
Sorry, for such a long message

Hey stitch! Great lessons . Question . Ive always soloed by finding the scale in the master key that worked for all chords being played in the progression . I know you have said you can switch scales in your videos with each chord but im finding that switching to another scale like( for example the ionian mode for the major chord ), diesnt work . There are a few tones that dont belong. If i did chord tones, its fine but the whole scale of the chord being played does not work because some of the tones are not in the master scale containing all the chords . Can you help me please . A littke confused . Keep up the good work . Take care my friend .

Oh also. I heard you mention a problem some are having with your audio. This is a theory but as you probably know. One of the first uses of audio compression on a large scale was it's use on the telephone system. At this point there are probably as many settings and types of compression , De-S-ers and noise filters used between the initial transmission to the final reception as there are providers and phones out there. If you are manipulating your audio after you record these vids try less compression. If you dont do anything to it after recording then it may have a setting somewhere to adjust but most likely will be out of your hands. Call support if you think I may be correct.

So this is keeping me up now. I was introduced to Smoke on the Water in the 70s, so I was shown G Bb C barre chords rather than the guitar store hated E G A lol. Been trying to wrap my head around a little theory lately and G Bb C means the key of Gm, I think. So wouldn't the chords be Gm Bb Cm? Or am I keeping myself awake for nothing? Also, you have to hunt a bit to find tab that isn't E G A ;-) (darn kids...)
