In 1990 I was a 23 year old American working in England where I lived on the 10th floor of a council flat in Stockwell (South London). The view out of my bedroom window was of the Battersea Power Station at nearly the same height and angle as depicted on this album cover... only the flying pig was missing. Every morning I was so lucky to wake up to this "real life" view as depicted on this great album cover, a view that came with its own soundtrack. Now far away back home in Colorado I often listen to this amazing album and close my eyes, letting the indelible memory of the best time of my life come clearly back to me. Only now in my mind the pig is no longer missing.

Got me through the hardest part of my life when my daughter was born. She was born sick and this song tells that story to me. She is 11 now and beautiful. Thats what is so great about this album. Everyone talks about The Wall and Darkside of the Moon, but I'll never get over how perfect every second of Animals is. I think I heard it for the first time when I was maybe 20, and I still can't quit it. That was only about a decade ago; I can't imagine how those of you who got to experience it when it was new must feel.
