May ‘70……just got back from Vietnam where I had bought a mini cassette recorder. The first song I recorded off off my dad’s car radio was “Lay Down.” I played it over and over again. It was mesmerizing. Still have the recorder and the mini cassette. Thank you for your song and talent Melanie. RIP.

I was 17 when this song came out and my best friend was 19. She became my sister in law that year and we were best friends/SILs for 48 years until her untimely death from cancer several years ago. I can still see us in my powder blue VW Beetle, our hippie hair flying singing this song at the top of our lungs. RIP Susie and Melanie.

I just decided to hear "Lay down (candles in the Rain)" by Melanie and found out that she passed away in January 24, 2024. How sad, she was so talented and such a cute girl she reminded me of myself I also still wear my hair the same as hers. Those were wonderful days that I'll never forget. My condolences to her children and family. RIP Melanie.

I am at Melanie's house today connecting a home backup generator! I was born in 71 and never knew her music till today. In her 70s now, she is still singing! Very nice lady to talk with. Glad I had the pleasure to meet someone that touched so many hearts with her nusic.
