My favorite bit of lore regarding the Doom Eagles is their Reclusium. Its a great hall that houses dour momentos of each battle and atrocity their chapter takes part in. They all sit in a tower by their chapter monastery, totaling in the millions. Hailing from Guilliman, the Doom Eagles are pretty depressing in their culture but I like the fact that their record keeping of their conflicts reflect that book-keeping part of their primogenitor.

I actually really like this story. The justification for the Marine garrison is weak - they're not greedy. But the idea of a space marine force overseeing a vital supply world isn't unheard of, or bad. I like that the Flesh Tearers see the people as just so below them and just want to leave. Fun fact, Captain Gorn dies on Baal defending the Tomb of Sanguinius from Fabius Bile's mutants, and Sergeant Nox was an honor guard to Gabriel Seth during the Devastation of Baal. And of course Tarikus has other stories about him as well. And I think Captain Consultus is the Marine who becomes one of the new Tetrachs of Ultramar. I think its the same Marine.
But I remember reading this way back when. Its a fun little side adventure.

From what I'm getting out of this, having Flesh Tearers in the area looks so similar to having Khorne cultists running around that it even fooled the Flesh Tearers. Because the way things played out sounds a lot like Gorn was accidentally covering for a Chaos cult because all of the signs of it just sounded like the stuff him and his men got up to regularly.
As to the fight with the Faux-Marine, yeah a normal human wouldn't last a second against even an unarmored Space Marine but one of those Marines almost died to a bunch of daemon-rats so there's no telling what that mutant in the fake armor was juiced up on. And he had to be juiced up on some kind of Chaos-roids for that story to make sense just because of the size that The Red would need to be. Remember the whole thing was that it was pretending to be a Space Marine and it was doing it so convincingly that it even fooled Tarikus until he punched through it's breastplate. And I'm sure that him and the natives would have noticed if The Red was two feet shorter than all of the other Space Marines. So that would explain why he lasted 5 seconds against Tarikus instead of the 0.5 seconds that a normal human would.

".....6 Flesh Tearers arrived." The other half of the chapter was going to be late.
