Wait!? Did I hear that right? Chad Smith on drums, Jeff Beck on guitar and Rob Trujillo on bass? Holy smokes, what a line-up!

No over drummed, not under drummed, this is drumming that serves the song. This is the divide between a drummer and a great drummer

I love drummers like Chad. He doesn't overplay. He's stripped down and simple but he hits incredibly hard and is so solid and consistent and plays with so much passion and feel. Drummers like him are a guitar player and songwriters dream and the absolute key to a great song. He's phenomenal

Chad was so impressive, a cymbal had to bow in honor 😂

Few artists are able to cough up such an iconic song so late in their career, but Patient Number 9 stands out as one of the greatest Ozzy songs ever, and the accompanying video is equally great.

Dude, when I first heard this song, I had no fuckin clue that Chad is drumming on that. Such a heavy but simultaneously smooth groove. Effective and serving the song.

these last 2 albums ozzy has done have just blown me away, always loved oz but specifically the last 2 albums with basically rock royalty all over them are just pure perfection, even if he never performs live again what a way to cap a career.

Look at the beat on the snare, all that hidden sound after the shot. He is a really great drummer

Chad vs. the cymbal stand! His energy and service to the music—rarely over-playing just because he can—has always been an inspiration.

I love that Chad would never be the first person I’d think to call for an ozzy track and at the same time he’s perfect!

Chad smith comes from a generation of musicians that just played.. pure drum sound 👌🏼. that crash fell forward he used it as an effects cymbal on his fills. I appreciate that they left it in!

Saw him in concert recently with the Red Hot. I thought I would have my eyes stuck on the front of the scene, but Chad is a goddamn beast on stage and I spent half the show watching him perform. Fantastic drummer

I will never get tired of watching Chad do his thing on the kit. If I were a drummer, I’d totally want that style of being a loose drummer with power and versatility. Hell, he even TWICE tightened his own cymbal when the song slowed — who needs a tech? I’d also be honored to have a certain comedian named Will Ferrell as my doppelgänger! 😂😂😂 I have a few top fave drummers, but Chad is probably my #1.

How is he both laid back on the beat and driving so hard . That opening is so draggy feeling yet perfectly in time

It's an absolutely brilliant song. And one hell of a line up on this recording.

Nice to see some fast Ian Paice influenced snare around 6:14.
