I saved up and finally bought my dream tow rig, after only having it for 10,000 miles, it left us stranded 9.5 hours from home needing over $11,000 in repairs... time for it to go.

It was nice meeting you man! Glad we turned a bad situation into not such a bad situation! I hope to see a G56 truck in the future personally and hopefully we can get some doors in the future!

It's cool that they reached out and tried to make it right. But let's be honest, if it was any of us that doesn't have a platform, they wouldn't have given a shit if we were treated like crap. How they acted without the spotlight on them showed their true colors.

Of course the dealer reached out-- to you. If it was any normal Joe, they never in a hundred years would have bothered. Glad they made the effort but the damage was already done, you missed all of LSFest because of it.

Personally you already started building the ultimate truck with the Fummins. As you stated ALL vehicle have their issues, but if you take the best from each brand, you end up with an killer rig! I'd put an Allison behind that Cummins or a manual trans, you can always upgrade sound deadening in the truck to make it more modern, and even interior / ride quality could be upgraded. Props to Chris for helping, that was awesome!

The fummins build is one of my favorite series on the channel. I think it deserves the love to be turned into the ultimate tow rig. Lose the semi wheels, get a proper transmission tune and let er rip. Garage built is the Taylor Ray way!

call the dealer have them pull the hitch out for you. Leave it in customer service for Chris to pick up first time he gets a chance. he sounded like he would appreciate it. Very rare to come across good people like that these days. Glad you guys had a safe trip in you’re home.

As a guy who has always played the “new truck” game, I fully advocate for building your own vision of the perfect tow pig. OEM’s design to cover as many end users as they can, so the things you see as super important might be overlooked. Every single thing you want to accomplish with your tow rig can be done through fabrication and aftermarket, then you have the knowledge of how correct it is because you did it yourself. I think you have an excellent starting point in your fummins. That iteration of the Cummins has excellent longevity and reliability as well as aftermarket support, as does the Ford trans. The truck platform is reasonably solid too, with good creature comforts. Build what you have. You’re already 75% done with what a lot of guys would consider the “ultimate tow rig”

Mega Cab, Aisin transmission Dually with the long bed conversion. So much interior space and don't have to worry about crushing the cab. I've towed a 25K/lb toyhauler all over the western US, over some big mountain passes with zero issues.

Make the Fummins the ultimate tow rig like you intended when the project originally began. Your an extremely smart man Taylor and your attention to detail should give you all the piece of mind you need to take that Fummins anywhere. If it breaks you can fix it, and then design it not to fail that same way again. GarageBuilt 4 Life

I've bought new and I have bought used. In my book, now with the long engine warranties available, I buy new. Then I keep it forever. I have one with about 87,000 miles on it and it's an 2007 model, and I have an 2011 with over 127,000 miles on it. Both were new and I have been the original owner and I do most of the general work ie; brakes, oil changes, plugs, filters and most common repairs. As I've done everything from rebuilding engines, automatic and standard transmissions, differentials, and axels, I'm like you in watching most mechanical issues. But, the aspects of having new on most systems wins the game. Great video, thanks for the info on diesels.

The mega cab dually trucks are so good for long trips… my 08 (I know it’s not a 4th gen) is something I’ll try to hold onto for a very long time.. they’re just able to accommodate so much more comfort features than most other trucks on top of being as capable as the 6.7 is…
