I backed the Veil Touched miniature campaign. After some delays I did get the minis. The minis are awesome. There is some repetition in sculpts. The local hurdles to plating a non-40K game are too high. Also the Immari and Gorkog minis don't appeal to me. They look awesome but just aren't my thing. As a result I will be supporting the second campaign by getting the Veil Touched expansion but won't be getting the Ravaged Star rules or other factions.
When another faction that appeals to me comes out I will probably back it and may get the rules then. The play testing videos that I've seen make the game seem fun. 40K has so many rules changes and so much complexity that I haven't played since 8th edition. I am interested in a more casual game. The local barriers are unlikely to go away soon but if I had two painted factions I could maybe get people to try it. I hope to see the Ravaged Star starter sets become more widely available. If my FLGS were to carry the line, the chances of me getting to try the game would surely increase.
For now I am happy to get Not Chaos Marines to proxy into 40K (if I start plating again.) With the first campaign I got a huge army of figures at a substantially lower cost than GW equivalents. It is worth noting that the first wave of Veil Touched minis are also available in the new campaign for any interested.
I am in no way being compensated for my interest here. I am just happy to participate. I have been into 40K since the early '90s. I love the minis and painting. The Ravaged Star line is refreshing and different. For any who have read this far, Thanks.
