I'm a sophomore majoring in psychology. I'm about to transfer to a 4 year next year. Working in experimental psychology really interests me. I talked to one at a nearby UC school, and she talked a lot about all the duties involved. Mostly involving training rats, building/repairing electrodes and other equipment, training research assistants, and programming data.

Took Bachelor of Science in Psychology myself. It wasn't my first choice, but I have come to love it because of all the theories and social experiments that you study and make yourself. But I stopped pursuing it, not because I have come to hate it, but because I realized that the goal of psychology, or the institutionalisation and standardisation of it, is to manipulate people and remove free will from the individual. Psychology can be interpreted in so many ways, but that's just how I view it would eventually become.

I discovered philosophy at around the same age, and started with Camus as well. Ended up studying cognitive science at uni, focusing mainly on psyc and philosophy. I definitely have the same experience w.r.t. insights those disciplines have provided me. Since I graduated my career has gone in other directions, but I intend on continuing to pursue this stuff as a hobby.
