TikTok is literally the 8th circle of hell, being damned to forever scroll through literal sensory deprivation baby stimulation videos

As someone with Autism, and therefore a God awful attention span, I'm glad that TikTok is rotting people's brains so badly that, even with a mental condition, I still have a higher functioning brain than TikTok users.

I continue to consider it a badge of honor that I don't have a TikTok

My attention span on YouTube is bad enough. I don't even know what how bad I'd be if I needed a content boost every second.

That is so accurate and it's not just TikTok, that also applies to Instagram and Twitter.

I don't know what's more horrifying... The fact the grandson finds joy in mockingly using his recently deceased grandfather's image on social media, or that the grandfather's final proof of living is forever cemented as a dancing hotdog next to a clip from Family Guy.

The cycle of Tiktok is having fun for 10 seconds then be bored for a second and then repeat, it really is a vicious cycle

What timing, I had my grandpas funeral today. This actually cheered me up a decent bit, thanks!

As a high school teacher, I can confirm this is accurate.

I like how we're at a point in social media and technology that parodying them isn't the "Old man complains about kids these days" trope we used to roll our eyes at. The internet has legitimately become this absurd, and the consequences of it is starting to feel tangible. Bonus points that the threat of some sites risking/threatening shutting down feels more like a sweet release than a crying shame.

funny how tiktok affected alot of people's attention spans, and yet depsite some of us not using it, only now i realize other social media apps is just as bad, even youtube has this problem, they got shorts for crying out loud

A few years ago, I got myself to a point where I could sit still for way longer YouTube videos. I'm talking about video essays over 30-40 minutes, sometimes pushing an hour. This felt like an achievement after my old attention span brain rot had me feeling like >5 minutes was pushing it. I truly hate that TikTok, YouTube and everyone else that hosts contentā„¢ļø keep pushing things hard the other way

I never understand what goes through anyone's head when they make a video where there are so many different random things going on at the same time. I'm always significantly more confused than I am entertained.

Its chasing clout that I have a problem with. Some people always doing trends to milk the most likes outta strangers, they do it like a drug.

Youve activated my trap card! Funerals are so boring theses days, especially for kids who didn't even know the person very well. That's why many funeral traditions include a party to honor the deceased life and it's an open door policy to come and go. People always had shit to do, take care of the farm or whatever. This concept of a completely sober event is a result of trying to "honor" the dead by denying it as much as possible. Open caskets are prettied up, make up, flowers everywhere, they treat it like you are visiting someone in the hospital and not a celebration of life. The living these days don't know how to process death so they follow the cookie cutter over priced mold set out by most funeral directors. Anyway, funerals today are a nightmare for anyone that wasn't super close to the dead.

The sooner TikTok ceases to exist the better off weā€™ll all be Edit: Iā€™m aware that shorts will continue to exist elsewhere, thatā€™s not my point. TikTok itself as a culture and a platform suddenly disappearing will be a collective net positive
