As a male victim of domestic abuse, this song means so much to me. Like I can relate to songs about female victims as well because abuse is abuse but there's something about hearing one specifically about a male victim hits different. I don't talk about it to people coz there's a deep level of shame surrounding it, but this song makes me feel so heard and understood.

sheād be mentally and physically abusive. sheād always play the victim and would tell others iād abuse her. one day i just got up and left on my motorcycle. i remember the cold wind biting my face and my nose and cheeks growing cold and rosy. once i got home, yeah i cried. we guys go through it too, but we wonāt say anything in fear of being called weak and such. iām tired of that shit so yeah, thereās my story.

Fun fact, Hozier recorded this at 5 am on the top of an abandoned building thats why you can hear the birds in the back and it gives of that cold breeze vibe
