As someone who was raised in the 505 area code (Albuquerque New Mexico) and the only girl I’ve ever seriously liked still lives there, this song hits like an emotional freight train

So, I was looking for the meaning of the song and developed a theory that the creator is reminiscing over his relationship. The number 505 is a hotel room number Alex and his previous partner were staying in. The 7 hour flight or 45-minute drive is the distance of where he was at the time or how long it took for them to get to said hotel. He imagines going back to that memory and being able to find her laying there in a comfort position whether it was for her to find comfort within herself or to keep warm when she was cold. He remembers the way she looked at him and he would melt for her all over again. However, he's not afraid of that but questions himself and later realizes he looked forward to it. Thinking about the past (or what he would change) is what is hurting him because he didn't feel like he was enough for her. This is what was 'barking" at him this thought would arise when they were together. At some point, the "bite" or thought, fully settled in. This lead to a dispute among them and left her crying. This would hurt him and left him thinking it was better for them to depart but she's the one that does the action and broke up with him. I think this is something that happened a lot throughout the relationship which is why he feels guilt for "spoiling the surprise" but to him, it also seemed "too soon" show they were an on and off relationship. At this point, after time has passed from their every last breakup, deep down he realizes he misses her and imagines if she were to see him again she would greet him with a smile.
