Fun fact: In 1951, Marshal Georgy Zhukov (the conqueror of Berlin during WW2) got the chance to meet with Peter Ermakov, one of the guys who oversaw the execution of the Romanovs in 1918. Zhukov refused to shake Peter's hand upon learning who he was, saying something on the lines of "I do not shake the hands of murderers."

THIS PART! It feels like sheâs recalling her more innocent times, while simultaneously losing the last of that same innocence before completely embracing the darkness and madness!

This is completely the best rewrite song ever for non-Disney princess Anastasia to becoming the empress of Russia with a vengeance on those who destroyed her family and abandoned her with no family and past so she wonât complete her right to the throne.
She determined to prove them wrong but with her heart turned darker and never be the same again as the spirit agreed to help her as they sensed her pain and anger within.
The beginning and ending had this Once Upon December before Journey to the Past, and I canât help but think that the Dark of the Night would blend it perfectly into this song for Anastasia as she understood why her family had been killed by and what Rasputin said about bashing them with a curse.

I love how the little girl at 2:00 looks so much like young Anastasia. Like representing how Anya is doing the same thing to these people as was done to her, she's punishing an innocent child for a crime she did not commit simply because of her proximity to the crime.

You know, this song is something more than just 'destroying sweet childhood memories' of this movie. I dunno how to phrase it.. it's like showing that it was a real tragedy, a crime the consequences of which do not disappear after putting an awkward 'We're sorry' banner next to a road and pretending to care about this loss on certain dates. Thanks for this

I love the way the crown and necklace look whenever she passes a window or when the green light hits them, but my absolute favorite part is 2:34 when we see every version of her that's existed, ending with a crying child because that's all that's really left of her now - a girl that misses her family.

At first i was like "what? how does getting revenge for her family's murder make her a villain?" then i realized "oh wait, dang, she became an absolutist monarch"
Edit: Damn, sorry guys, i swear i originally intended this to be a simple, lighthearted jab at monarchy. I'll stop interacting with this section, but before that, here's what i think:
The more i research history and sociology, the more resentment i cultivate to all forms of government with accentuated centralized power. There should NEVER be social, political or economic divides that stark, in any society. I can't comprehend why anyone would defend such a thing. For a time, that resentment made me relatively biased towards SOME forms of Communism and Anarcho-syndicalism - which i still think are fascinating - but now, i really just think a Parliamentary Modern Welfare State, with a weaker prime-minister, seems reasonable enough to defend. Also, i think using technology so people participate in regional politics more frequently could be a GREAT thing. Please, lets move on from monarchy lmao, it is NOT an unreasonable request.

Omg Lydia... Was... was that last sequence the Dowager Empress realizing that this actually was her granddaughter?! The Fear and realization in her eyes was just... a punch in the gut but also... omg! Such a detail. I love it. I also love that the end pose is literally done in such a way where it is clear she isn't just out for revenge but the look in her glowing eyes is desperation for the family she has long yearned for. To the point of derangement.... and insanity/madness... Oh my heart!

Who are you hoping to see turn into a villain next?? Make sure to stream Anastasias villain song for clear skin - distrokid.com/hyperfollow/lydiathebard/anastasias-⌠MASSIVE thank you to Ben and Shrub for joining me on this project! You guys are magic ⤠And to Alex who was our little announcer guy at the start of the video Edit : I am now aware I made a spelling mistake, it is âdieâ not âdyeâ. In my DEFENSE I thought the phrase meant clothing dye like when you dye something it wonât come out. I now see I am an utter MUG. Thereâs a reason I decided to sing and didnât become a professional writer âď¸âď¸
