So here we have the main focus of my weekend visit to Sickroom Music Studios, Narborough, Norfolk.

It started life as the glimmering hope of a chorus with just a drum hit and the line "can you see the wonder" floating around my head. This had been starting to drive me a little crazy so to have the opportunity to tease out the rest of the song to be able to "hear" it properly was fantastic.

In fact one of the challenges I set myself here was to turn up at the studio without anything actually prepared and so force myself to create something completely new. It is thanks to Owen's skill in the studio that I was able to turn around three ideas in such a short space of time.

I played the main structure in on a very special 6-string acoustic (my heartfelt thanks to the Wraighte family) and then added the bass line. This gave me something solid to "drum" to and thanks to Owen's excellent and astonishingly quick, editing skills we had our drum track - complete with the "dum-dum" - "Can you hear the Wonder?" refrain that had been bugging me for a couple of months now! A little hammond added and three or four vocal takes brought the Saturday session to a close. Saturday night with headphones on I worked on electric guitar parts which we recorded first thing Sunday morning leaving the rest of the day to mix.

With many more components this song obviously got the lion's share of time and attention and I was delighted with the way Owen transformed my "enthusiasm over skill drumming" into something that sounds like it almost knows what it is doing!!!!

I was particularly pleased with the whole middle section that just seemed to unfold in its own natural way and over-all just enjoyed the wonder of PLAYING with music.
