Learn Swedish with Easy Swedish: Olof is out in Malmö to ask people what's typical Swedish :)

GLOSSARY:

Fika:
Could be a verb: att fika (to fika) or a noun: en fika (a fika). To fika is basically ''to have a coffee'' but often accompanied with pastries. It's often when you take a break from something. Example: you've been out Christmas shopping all day with a friend and then say: ''Vi tar en fika!'' (Let's take a fika).

Lagom:
Could be a adverb: lagom mycket godis (a suitable amount of candy) or an adjective: temperaturen är lagom (the temperature is moderate). There is no direct translation, but it sort of means: a suitable amout of/moderate/adequate. Many swedes explain it as ''not too much, not too little'', and many think that Swedes are very ''lagom'', not too extreme in any way; that we're moderate.

Jantelagen:
''Jantelagen'' is a bit related to ''lagom''. ''Jantelagen'' says that you're not allowed to succeed too much, you have to stay ''lagom'' (moderate, not too extreme)

Just making it clear that this dialect is from the Southern part of Sweden. Not all Swedish speak like this (actually, most non-south swedish people make fun of this dialect)

They talk like they're reading a poem or something. It's a very poetic-sounding language.

Swedish and Icelandic are both of my favorite Scandinavian languages. Both sound fun to speak and I love the little details.

Swedish looks pretty easy, after watching this video i got interested into this language. Thanks EasyLanguages. Btw don't say "fika" in Italy, because it can be an offensive word!!! :D

Wow, I almost understood some of that. I had some Norwegian 40 years ago, and do speak German. I'm impressed with this method of teaching!
