So my preferred ending personally would be for a flash-forward to the future to see Rebecca married and happy with a guy we haven’t seen before so that we know that she was able to find a healthy stable relationship after figuring out her own life. That said, if she does end up with one of the love quadrangle members, I hope it’s Greg. Theirs has been the closest to a healthy relationship she’s had on the show.

We all know it's Greg at this point. But something that has really stuck out as to WHY is that Greg's life does not revolve around Rebecca. People may think it's romantic that the other guys (especially Nathaniel) have been all in when it comes to winning her, but it's not healthy. All of the guys have "evolved", and yet, in these last few episodes, Josh and Nathaniel have manipulated their way into being with/around Rebecca through the criminal defense pro bono work and the Billy Elliot show. Meanwhile, Greg is opening up his restaurant, pursuing his own path. And on the dates, both Nathaniel and Josh say that "WE'RE meant to be together." They have lumped themselves with Rebecca already, although there is no "we" yet. But on Greg's date, he says, "You're the love of my life. You know that, right?" It isn't about THEM, because there is no "them" yet. He knows all he can do is express his own feelings, not hers. And, I mean, there is just no comparison between the three dates. Josh's and Nathaniel's were textbook romantic, but was there really any heart? Any vulnerability? Greg's "date" was just so genuine and pure. (as a side note, I do think Rebecca will choose herself but later end up with Greg. She needs to put making her dreams and being whole first, and then ending up with the guy who gets it and did the same).

The way I look at it:
With Josh, Rebecca has a long history and shares a worldview.
With Nathaniel, she has strong passion and a shared background.
With Greg, she has something real(istic).
I'm not really on any guy's team here, I ship Rebecca mostly with a good mental health, but storytellingwise it makes sense if Rebecca will continue here life offscreen in a relationship with Greg.
That being said, I dreamed last night that she ends up with Valencia and wouldn't that be a stunt, haha.

Alone at night yelling 'that's manipulative editing' at my computer as I watched the end of this episode (naturally, with tears in my eyes) because my grubby little hands lost the Rebecca/Nathaniel ship the moment that end sequence started and my heart melted for Greg and Rebecca. If the show is going to tear my heart apart like this, just take away all of the ships!

I know ships aren't the important thing and it's not what the show is actually about at all, but I've the ending of this episode didn't prove that Greg and Rebecca should end up together I don't know what will.
It's exactly what I like about that outcome - Rebecca tends to get to manic, set unhealthy expectations, make stories up in her head and I feel like Josh and Nathaniel are her fantasies, but Greg? Greg is real!
Greg is not romantic big gestures, fairytales, and hallmark love stories. Because those things are not are not what relationships should be about! It's about syncing up, understanding eachother's needs and boundaries, and enjoying time together - even when everything else goes to shit.

I just noticed that the more Rebecca grows, the less showy the musical numbers become and instead are grounded, thoughtful singing to oneself.
