Richard Alfred Newell (March 9, 1944 – January 5, 2003), better known by his stage name, King Biscuit Boy, was a Canadian blues musician. He was the first Canadian blues artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. Newell played guitar and sang, but he was most noted for his harmonica playing. Newell's stage name, given to him by Ronnie Hawkins, was taken from the King Biscuit Time, an early American blues broadcast.
King Biscuit Boy played with Muddy Waters, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, Allen Toussaint and The Meters.

When i first started watching live bands back in 74 in suburban Croydon UK. This was the archetypal support act. I often found them more entertaining than the headliners.

The faceless drummer puts me in mind of Spinal Tap. The band itself reminds me of that time, when blues-based rock bands were a dime a dozen. Yet, I loved it.

The hard reality of life is....have a man with model looks as frontman and corporations and women would have helped propel them higher up the celebrity hierarchy

@Beat-Club Aww, come on . . . this is not really unreleased footage! It's exactly the same take that was shown on December 12, 1971 in episode 74 - only with the count-in and without superimposed titles. Everybody can compare it with the earlier upload here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8M3rYNQ9pw
