A terrarium ecosystem is constantly evolving. After just one month, life in this closed native terrarium has blossomed and flourished, with every organism playing a key role in maintaining the stability of the ecosystem.

Woodlice and springtails decompose organic matter and recycle the nutrients back into the soil. Plants grow and die and adapt to the conditions in the jar, and slugs break down those that don't adapt in time. Centipedes and harvestmen, the predators of the jar, hunt down and control the populations of the other inhabitants, with their own numbers held in perfect equilibrium with the creatures they consume.

Creating Closed Terrariums is like creating your own personal mini-earth or a mini-biosphere. Lol all the new insects born in that jar have no idea that the world is much bigger outside their "mini-world"....

I have a terrarium that's 6 months old now. It's very lovely to look at :) It has spiders, snails, isopods, multiple species of mite and springtails, and centipedes. I've put some worms in there too but I haven't seen them for months.

Instant Sub. I hate maintenance. This thing needs very little of that and it has the WHOLE PACKAGE!

The stone centipede looks so cool! But I am always a fan of rolly poly's! It must be so cool to see this everyday, but then take a step back to see just how much it's changed over the course of just a month. Wonder what developments will happen over the next few weeks?

Getting a terrarium for a friend next week for her birthday then looking at youtube learning more about terrariums and it's so fascinating with different unique look and designs each people have until I stumbled on to your video which got my curiosity that yours is so breathtakingly beautiful because of how many little insects is living off your little world that you created and It's interesting to see from outside the jar. You've inspired me. so now it's gonna be one of my goals to go and make one. Thanks for the great vid you've done a great job 👍

Wow, the centipede, springtails, worms and huntsmen all came from eggs in the soil?

Hey man, I’m thinking about starting my own as well. I had a few questions though. First, should I start it with just plants (moss and grasses) first before adding any woodlice and centipedes to make sure they have a healthy supply of food that will last? Second, how many woodlice and centipedes should I add to insure the centipedes don’t instantly kill everything off as I believe they will eat both the worms and woodlice?

Looks great, like these terrarium videos. Did you add most of these animals later? I didn't see them in the original setup? Again great job! :)

I have one big terrarium and a few jars of moss, and a hanging glass ball of moss. However I've never had creatures in there before. I'm worried that something will go wrong and they'll die, and i would feel so bad. I'm going to start another big terrarium soon though, with woodlice in :)

Great to see that it is doing well. I may well have a go at doing one of my own at some point but I do have some questions. Is it reasonable to expect that it will continue to do well indefinitely? Also, is it entirely maintenance free, or is a little occasional tending / management required? Finally, can one of these be started at any time of year or is there a best time to do it? Thanks Leo! Keep up the good work mate and all the best to you! 👍😎👍
