bebadoobee - Tired (Studio Performance)

"Don’t meet your heroes," they say. But what about the off-chance that your hero is Pavement boss Stephen Malkmus and he happens to dig your music? And you actually have a song called "I Wish I Was Stephen Malkmus?" And he brings his daughters to see your show in Portland? Well, that’s an exception to the rule. In fact, busting convention is something that seemingly comes naturally to Bea Kristi. Over the last two years, the English-Filipina teen has been releasing music under the tongue-twisting moniker beabadoobee. Her song-writing is lyrically incisive and centered around playfully esoteric guitar riffs, a style quite akin to her buddy Malkmus. Although much of her childhood musicality centered around studying violin, Bea gravitated to the guitar when her Dad gifted her a second-hand six-string. With it she wrote her first song, “Coffee,” a dreamy ballad about caring for someone and making them a cup of joe with just the right amount of sugar in it. Unconventionally, the song blew up. With her blue-hair, freak-folky aesthetic and self-aware humor, Bea’s been garnering a devoted fanbase of fellow angsty teens all over the world. Check out our performance of “Tired."
