My mom died of fentanyl overdose around the time I started watching this show. When this song played in particular, I felt like I knew everything she had ever felt in her 10 years of drug addiction. Where I once hated her and what her addiction had done to ME, I finally acknowledged what her addiction did to HER and my heart broke in a million pieces. This song brings so much pain yet relief through tears because it is a surrender to the Lord for Him to take our burdens. The scene of Zendeya in church and the comfort of the hug was a beautiful picture of what happens when we come to God. And her speaking to her dad was her speaking to God and Him showing her that He loves her and welcomes her back into His embrace.
