I feel similarly about this record. Been a fan of Erika since Essentials, which has become one of my favorite albums. It had simple and elegant production paired with endearing songwriting (Space is her best songwriting effort, argue with the wall).
But since then, as you said, she's been stripping her music down to the point of losing the emotionality of her previous records. And the songwriting stayed just as simple but somehow got much worse. Half of the tracks on this one are skips. Love Erika de Casier, big fan of her, but this one is a miss. Should've been shorter or should've stayed in the oven, tbh
