Job for a Cowboy are a far cry from the deathcore miscreants they once were.

I happen to think I could very quickly recognize Jonny Davy’s vocals. 🤷‍♂️

Holy shit, didn't expect him to review this and I sure as fuck didn't expect a 7 given his distaste for tech-death, well deserved tho, this shit gose hard

“Vocals aren’t very distinct” Johnny has one of the most instantly recognisable voices in metal nobody sounds remotely like him

The guys in Chelsea grin and Attila were 19 year old scene kids when those records came out 😭. The genre has evolved tremendously over the years.

I would GREATLY suggest rediscovering Chelsea Grin's new material, particularly their most recent double album. The most mature the band has sounded in their entire existence

1:20 I get what he's saying and it certainly is a valid point, but I'd also like to argue that as of late deathcore has kinda found it's way to the public metal consciousness. If there's anything that the recent albums from Lorna Shore, Humanity's last breath and even bands like to the gave have shown us so far it's that the subgenre is much more today than it used to be. Even Chelsea Grin is kinda being viewed in a different light today. Then again I am a fan of the genre so what do I know lol. Either way happy you're paying attention to some of these bands regardless of your opinion on their releases.

Really enjoyed this one. I'm a huge metalhead and, of the metal releases, this is easily a high ranker for the year so far.

I remember when the Doom EP went sort of "viral" at his time... it was similar to how the internet went with Lorna Shore's "To The Hellfire" (considering that viralizing at the early 2000s didn't happen in an instant and in a way smaller scale than nowadays), all the comments about "WTF are those vocals, daaaaaaaaaamn"

Deathcore is actually having a resurgence right now. Some are calling it a second wave.

Jonny Davy has the most unique vocals in the scene, imo. You can pick him out like a giraffe in a hayfield. Hands down great progression in the band, excellent composition and full of fruit. It truly encompasses the depths of the spiritual world in turn of darkness and consumption of self in consideration of instruments, vocals, and lyrics. Stellar album
