Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). I had a friend who I met in North York (Toronto) way back who had moved to Canada from Manchester, pre-Blur but during the Roses, Mondays, Carpets, etc. I was tuned in. I remember seeing the video for "She's So High" on Muchmusic ("The Wedge"? "City Limits"?). Went out and bought Leisure on tape. Still have it, poor ribbon was played out. This track is so awesome. Saw them play The Opera House in 1992. Great set.
