This song will always mean a lot to me.
I first heard it not long after my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I thought it was one of the most beautiful and thought provoking songs Iâd ever heard, and I listened to it regularly through my motherâs illness. Itâs now been two months since she passed away, I still listen to it, and it reminds me of how comforting it was to me in that time.

I heard the French version in H&M a while ago, and got frustrated because I had no Shazam and couldn't look up the lyrics because I don't speak French. Fast forward to today, I'm sat in a cafe with my friend and it comes on again. My friend knows the song but she shazamed it for me, and here I am. I prefer the French version. Mysterious! Nice to hear in English too. So glad this song came back to me!

I am out for a walk
And I will not be back 'til they're staining my skin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Every night I do walk
And if they're looking down I'm offering my chin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
There's
A way to truly be seen
By furiously skimming in
Forget the jewels, I'm livid
Veins are shutting out fine on their own
Blood on my cheeks, birds come by
One of my stomps and they fly
People politely smile to make sure I won't come any closer
I am out for a walk
And I will not be back 'til they're staining my skin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Every night I do walk
And if they're looking down I'm offering my chin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Now
A swollen eye is four days
Of curious calm, snow in May
Way better off on my own
Since no one cries there's no one to blame
It hurts, I feel everything
As my sense of self's wearing thin
Such pains can be a delight
Far from when I could drown in my shame
I am out for a walk
And I will not be back til they're staining my skin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Every night I do walk
And if they're looking down I'm offering my chin
This is how I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Say now
I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Say now
I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Say now
I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin
Say now
I chose to talk
With some violent hits, violent blossoms akin

THIS.
This is what a STRONG human being is about. Throwing onerself out there, well aware that one is in their most vulnerable state. Tearing down all those walls that would have protected oneself otherwise... And then accepting any criticism, insult or injury anyone could throw one's way, just for them to shoulder it and walk away, none the weaker.
The more vulnerable you are when you expose yourself, the stronger you get after standing back up. THAT is resilience.
