People comment that they can tell I work out. I tell them that I don't work out to look good, necessarily, but that if I don't work out, I feel crappy. Appearing to have the body of a fit 30-year-old at the age of 60 is a nice bonus.

I used to exercise all day everyday like a madman. And It was the happiest I was in my life. And I didn't have money or anything back then either. It makes sense now.

I was able to go off of an antidepressant and an antianxiety medication both of which I had been on for more than 10 years. I did this after powerwalking every day for at least an hour a day for over a year.

Waking up early and exercise fixed my decades-old sleep problems and 5 htp knocks me out with no grogginess the next morning.

I'm very much in agreement, Dr. Amen. I have a total gym I use daily, for years, as a very healthy 74 year old, and I've been told I look like a mid 50s Lady 🙂 I definitely feel like it, mentally and physically. Love your videos. God Bless You and Your Family 🙏 Hope You Have Merry Christmas 🎄

I fully agree! No matter what type of stress I may be under, or even if I feel somewhat depressed, if I can just get my body moving, I will feel much better, and relieved, after only about 5 minutes! I think important to put the emphasis on movement, rather than “exercise”. Some may get bogged down in a specific type of exercise, and not understand that dancing, skipping rope, and nearly anything that gets your blood pumping, and heart rate up, will do!

I am blissful after doing an hour’s worth of cardio. I knew my serotonin levels would always fly high but had no idea of the how and the why if it. Great explanation. Thank you.

Wow! I never knew tryptophan had to compete with other amino acids! That’s fascinating. I would love more explanation on this. Thanks for this video!

Thank you! Why doctors/therapists never explain this? I take this advice much more seriously now, because now I understand how it works.

When I first started running regularly and preparing for my first half marathon, I got runner’s high a lot. The effect decreased over time, though the effect still seems to be there.

We live full time in an RV and nature is our backyard and living room. Don’t really need a fancy Gym….. so much you can do outside…..

Thanks sir .. So more exercise .. means more tryptophan in brain .. means more serotonin for us ..

I can agree 100 % !! When I was able to work out, I use to sleep like a baby. Now that I am unable to exercise due to a back injury, I am having difficulties with sleep.

It's interesting to note that, it's by the same mechanism, carbs boost serotonin! When we eat carbohydrates, body releases insulin, when there is insulin all the cells starts using amino acids, thus reducing the competition tryptophan has to face to cross blood brain barrier
