Listening to this, it reminds me of how much it hurts to keep those dark secrets and parts of your life that you despise yourself for from your people, but there's always that thought in the back of your head that says "If I show my darkest parts, the wicked things inside my heart, would you run away" and it's really tough living with that because it creates a lot of distrust in the people close to you and when you reveal your shadows to someone, if they accept it like they're okay with it, it creates that thought of "Are you the same?" Because you feel like all that pain, all those shadows, all those wicked things could only be accepted and understood by someone who's gone through the same and it creates that feeling of "Are we both still in these shadows? Is there a way out? Will I ever see the light?" The power in these lyrics is so strong, most everyone can relate to it nowadays because everyone has a dark and wicked shadow. You feel like you're suffocating, desperately trying to call for help, but your voice never reaches your lips. Then you go through that process of "Nobody knows my pain, nobody will ever know, so I'll hide it behind this mask, this man of stone, tell everybody that everything is fine and it will be" but it will start to feel like you are becoming that statue more and more and you'll feel like you aren't yourself. When the stone starts to break, things really start to change, and when you find that one person that says "It's okay, I won't run away, I'll bring you to a place where we can cleanse your soul and make you whole" the stone facade crumbles and you start to find a hope for yourself, a hope that cleanses and makes you feel whole. (I've loved these songs for a while, I've made a list of sorts to listen to them in order to, which is: Suffocate, Lonely, Man of Stone, Innocence and Hope. I might add to that later, but these are the ones that hit me the hardest when I'm depressed)
