I think Boursicot was a closeted homosexual in his youth which he couldn't admit to even himself. Thus, having sex with a man who is actually a woman (!) gave his conscious a relief that he was not gay. If he had ever sex with a woman, he would have understand the difference. Having a male partner after return from China proves that. Also, his son was indeed an Uighur, a Turkic ethnic group who has some Caucasoid admixture, to deceive him that the boy was his mixed-race son.
