"sense of [impending] doom" is my favorite symptom because it almost sounds like a joke but it can also be one of the most serious of them all. sometimes the body knows when bad things are about to happen, even if it doesn't know what the bad thing is.

I experienced serotonin syndrome after a former psychiatrist increased my dose of Wellbutrin. For about three days I had hallucinations, seizures, and eventually lost the ability to walk for a period of time. One of the most terrifying experiences of my life and I thought I was going to die.

I ended up with serotonin syndrome from a single normal dose of this stuff. Thankfully it was mild enough to where I didnā€™t have any seizures or a fever (just the tachycardia, muscle spasms and minor auditory hallucinations), but apparently my parents never even let me have it for colds when I was young because my whole family has weird reactions to it. Of course another medication I was on at the time significantly lowered the threshold for serotonin syndrome, which has happened to me before, so probably not likely to happen to most people.

Serotonin Syndrome is horrible. I mixed DXM with 5HTP and had a 3 day stay in ICU. I had a friend call me an Uber to the ER at 3am, and the last thing I remember before blacking out was me banging on the door of the room they put me in shouting I needed help immediately because I was dying. I knew it was serotonin syndrome but for some foolish reason it didn't cross my mind about that risk before I took the pills. I have No memory of anything else other than waking up at some point surrounded by my parents. I left the hospital with a bag of my pants which I had pissed in, and psychomotor retardation for 3 weeks. I couldn't form sentences but I could think them so my speech was so delayed and broken I would get panic attacks because that's a very overwhelming thing. Luckily I've made a "full" recovery from that instance, though I can say I am not the same person mentally anymore. Kids, if you're gonna do drugs, always look up EVERY possible interaction with ANYTHING. But don't do drugs kids they haven't done a thing for me other than make me a shell of my former self.

I did DXM for years, even had a friend that has a doctorate in chemistry help me do an extraction of it from syrup. That was an insane experience! I have moved on from that chapter in my life. Though I have heard that DXM abuse can lead to a form of brain lesions, but so far I haven't had any long-term damage (that I have noticed) but I would never recommend that others do it. With things like drugs, all it takes is one bad reaction and you will ruin or end your life. If you are going to do DXM, never get the brands with acetaminophen, and don't you dare drive a car or be around children.

I used to do this stuff a ton 6 or 7 years ago. I did research and whatnot on what ingredients were used, but after awhile I grew a tolerance. Soon I ended up having 3 bottles in one sitting. My skin itched and my resting heart rate was 160. It was one of the scariest things of my life and I never did it again. I remember being in a group chat and telling everyone a bunch of delirious "tell my family I love them" type stuff... Not a good drug.

Ill be completely honest. I havenā€™t drank DXM/Delsym/Robitussin in years or even wanted to, BUT. I drank 4 bottles in my sophomore year of college, and the trip I went on was probably the best experience of my entire life.

I was horribly addicted to DXM at various points. I'd regularly use doses from 900mgs up to 1100 mgs. Your tolerance builds rapidly. It's no joke.
